Can you track if ChatGPT mentions your URL anywhere?

I was wondering if it’s possible to track whether ChatGPT or similar tools reference a URL from my site. Is there any way to know this?

Just a heads up – GA4 needs consent mode 2 now, so around half of the traffic (or more) might opt-out. That means you won’t track them at all.

But you can track some other tools, like Perplexity.

You can track referrals if people actually click on the link. But there’s no way to know if the URL was just mentioned without a click.

Yeah, you can check in Google Analytics under referrals.

Appreciate it, thanks.

Is there another service that tracks this? I don’t use Google Analytics.

Most web analytics tools will handle that – Google Analytics, Piwik, or even ahrefs. Just install their tracking scripts on your site. If you’re serious about growing your site, it’s worth doing.

Even something basic, like analyzing log files, can give you similar info.

Honestly, just ask ChatGPT directly. Sometimes it helps.

Yeah, like others said, Google Analytics or another analytics tool is the way to go. Once you get it set up, you can track referrals and even build reports to visualize the traffic better.

Thanks a lot, that helps.

Not totally sure, but I’ve noticed referral traffic showing up in GA4 the past few months.
