Favourite SEO Conspiracy Theories?

Technically, I could argue that most of SEO is a conspiracy theory, but my favorite is the idea that Google has an “organic budget” for every website. It just seems too coincidental that so many queries have consistent click numbers day after day without any significant fluctuations. It makes me think there’s some kind of algorithmic intervention at play, capping the amount of organic traffic a site can receive.

This theory feels especially plausible when you consider how difficult it is for some sites to break through a certain traffic ceiling, no matter how much SEO effort is put in. It’s almost as if Google is rationing out visibility to keep everyone in check.

What’s your take on this? Any other wild theories out there that you find entertaining or oddly convincing?

It’s true that Google’s algorithms are complex and constantly evolving, but the idea of a fixed “organic budget” for each website is a bit far-fetched.

While there might be some fluctuations in traffic due to algorithm updates or seasonal changes, consistent click numbers over time are more likely the result of a stable search demand and effective SEO practices.

The “organic budget” theory is interesting but lacks evidence. Factors like quality, relevance, and algorithm updates likely explain consistent traffic patterns. Other wild theories about SEO exist but lack substantial support.

The belief that Google manipulates search results to favor its own goods and services is frequently supported by the fact that its goods and services frequently appear highly for pertinent search phrases. Google, however, has consistently refuted these accusations, asserting that their algorithm is made to show consumers the most relevant and beneficial results, independent of the information’s original source.
