I understand that increasing organic traffic is generally a slow and steady process.
However, I’m currently in a situation where achieving this quickly is vital for the job security of my team.
I work as a front-end developer at a newsletter company that operates 12 domains, each with an average of over 20,000 monthly visits. Until recently, 60% of our traffic came from referrals through a single source—NewsBreak. But in June, NewsBreak changed their crawler, and we lost all the traffic from them, causing our monthly average to plummet from over 40,000 visits to just 20,000 per site.
Our web team, which is relatively new to the company, wasn’t even aware that such a large portion of our traffic depended on a single source that could cut us off at any moment. To make matters worse, the company had no established relationship with NewsBreak. When we reached out to them, they basically told us, “too bad.”
Now, the pressure is on to increase our organic traffic to make up for this loss. However, there’s a lot of conflicting advice out there about what works best in today’s SEO landscape. I want to focus on strategies that are proven to be effective and avoid wasting time on methods that might not yield results.
Given the current state of SEO, what are the most reliable ways to rapidly grow organic traffic?
