Increased budget but Google hiked CPC by over 4000%… anyone else?

Like the title says…

I got hit with that “limited by budget” message on my ad campaign. Wanting to boost visibility, I decided to increase my budget by around 500% ($10/day to $60/day). Nothing too wild. But in just one day, the cost per click for my main keyword shot up from $0.07 to $3.00. My impressions and clicks dropped significantly, and I’m now paying a lot more.

Anyone else run into this? I already felt unsure about paying to show up in searches (even when using every possible keyword combination), but this drop in visibility after upping my budget feels like a breach of trust.

It only takes a couple of competitors to drive CPC through the roof. I’ve seen it get pretty intense, especially when egos are at play.

You might not be spending enough to really get noticed. Are you running ads for a local service or a product?

For service-based businesses, depending on the industry, conversions can cost between $60-120 per lead, sometimes more depending on the area. Also, lower cost clicks often end up bringing spammy results.

If you’re not seeing your ads, what keywords are you targeting? Have you checked the CPC rates in the Google Ads reporting tool?

@Jaylen
That sounds really frustrating! I’ve had similar issues where Google Ads suddenly became way pricier than expected. It’s essential to keep an eye on CPC rates. Maybe try out other platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn ads—they might work better for certain niche audiences. I’ve also seen good results using tools to monitor competitors’ strategies. Make sure your keywords are tightly aligned with what your audience is searching for!

@Drew
I see what you’re doing… Every post you make is like a pitch for a specific tool. Commenting here without even addressing the main point makes it seem like spam.

What’s your bidding strategy? That could be causing the jump.

Honestly, $3.00 per click isn’t super high depending on the industry.

A lot of factors affect Google PPC. What keywords are you using, what type of campaign is it, what match types are you using, and what’s your target area?

Yeah, auctions can be brutal. Sometimes competitors bid super high just to push others out.

What’s the campaign setup? And which bid strategy are you using?

Google’s like a casino—house always wins. Focus on bidding based on the value you get, not just maxing out your budget.
