November Update…New websites ranking without links?

Hey everyone, my team and I have been checking out various keywords, and it looks like Google is now giving smaller sites a chance to rank. Previously, it was mostly high-authority domains, but now we’re seeing smaller sites ranking without a lot of authority but with solid schema and content.

We’re managing 87 sites, and yesterday we noticed some good clicks in the console—our rankings improved. Anyone else noticing changes?

How are you checking authority these days?

I use a few different tools to check authority.

Mostly Moz and SEMrush, and for links, I prefer Ahrefs.

@Hugh
Got it, thanks!

I’ve seen the same thing in my niche too. My competitors have around 5-10k unique backlinks, but a newer competitor, only around six months old, is ranking well with much less authority.

Yeah, same situation here.

I’ve got an 11-month-old site on a new domain with about 300 indexed pages, but it’s still not ranking for any keywords. No manual actions in GSC, but it does get about 30 visits daily from social media and Bing.

Feel free to share your URL privately—I can take a look.
