Switching to a New Website Design – How to Avoid SEO Issues?

Hey everyone,

I feel like I might be overthinking this, but I’ve built a new version of my current website on a different WordPress hosting app (same server). Now I’m ready to connect the domain to the new design.

The domain name isn’t changing – just the design – so I’m wondering if there’s anything I need to do to avoid messing up my SEO rankings. I’ve read about 301 redirects, but since the domain stays the same, is that necessary?

Would appreciate any advice or tips. Thanks!

How do I do this without affecting SEO rankings?

If your content and URLs aren’t changing, you should be fine.

Just double-check that internal links (like related posts, navigation menus, and footer links) stay the same.

Also, if the new design relies heavily on JavaScript, make sure Google can still render the pages properly. You can test that in Google Search Console.

I’ve seen the 301 redirects but my domain name isn’t changing.

No need for 301 redirects if you’re just updating the design and URLs stay put.
