What’s the Best SEO Plugin for WordPress in 2025?

Hey everyone! I’m looking to improve my site’s SEO and need some recommendations for the best SEO plugin for WordPress. There are so many options out there, and it’s a bit overwhelming. What plugins have you used that really made a difference in your site’s search rankings? Any pros and cons would be super helpful. Thanks!

The SEO Framework

I use and recommend this as well.

I personally like Slim SEO.

SEO Press is my favorite. It’s less bloated and less intrusive than Yoast, which constantly pushes popups. Also, I prefer its UI/UX.

Looking into this.

+1 for SEOPress. Been using it for four years—worth the investment. The SEO Framework is also worth considering.

We used Yoast SEO for years, but after bugs started negatively affecting rankings and they began aggressively upselling, we switched to SEOPress.

SEOPress is lightweight and easy to use. We also use Squirrly SEO for more advanced needs, though it can be complex.

@Colby
Same experience here. Tried Rank Math as well, but I like Squirrly despite its complexity.

Rank Math anyone? Just implemented it since it was highly recommended in another post. Should I switch to SEO Framework instead?

I use Rank Math. These debates are funny because the ‘best’ really depends on your needs. Except for Yoast—Yoast sucks.

Yep, Rank Math is the best by far.

+1. Their addons work with all the top SEO plugins. You can use the free version and still get schema data.

SEO Framework is the most lightweight option available.

I used Yoast for years. It’s effective but buggy and can conflict with themes. Also found All In One SEO to be heavy. Recently tried Smartcrawl Pro and liking it so far.

Switched to Rank Math in 2022 after using Yoast.

Tried both Yoast and Rank Math. Rank Math is better—more updates and customization options.

I recommend Rank Math.

Pros:

  1. Provides an SEO score for blog posts.
  2. Easy to set up.
  3. Includes essential marketing features like analytics and Search Console integration.

Cons:

  • Many features are behind a paywall.

Tried both Rank Math and Yoast, but I prefer Rank Math.
