Any good technical seo courses out there?

I’m looking for a solid advanced technical SEO course. Been in SEO for around 4 years, focusing mainly on on-page, lead conversion, and some basic technical SEO. Now I want to take my skills up a notch and get a full understanding of technical SEO from start to finish. Any recommendations?

Honestly, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all course for technical SEO. It’s more like a mix of tools and techniques, and a lot depends on what you need for each project. For me, using Sitebulb or Screaming Frog helps in assessing a site’s health. Sitebulb is straightforward and gives you a checklist, while Screaming Frog offers a ton of data you’ll have to work through manually. Agencies sometimes have a different approach too, especially if they have multiple clients and need to prioritize based on impact, like page speed improvements versus duplicate content fixes. Technical SEO skills really grow as you apply them to different cases.

I looked around for one myself and tried a couple. SEMrush’s course wasn’t that helpful, honestly. Blue Array Academy was alright but pretty basic if you’re already comfortable with the fundamentals. It mostly covers definitions and basic examples, so if you’re beyond that level, it may not add much.

Check out courses on Coursera or through SE Ranking or Ahrefs. They usually have both the theory and practice, so you can test out what you learn.

Maybe consider getting a mentor at this stage?

For basics, you can start with SEMrush Academy, then try Blue Array Academy. BrightonSEO has an advanced course as well.

Aren’t Brighton courses pretty pricey? You could just use a SEMrush account, run some audits, and learn from the error reports to get hands-on practice.

@Chandler
Yeah, Brighton’s advanced course is around £300 but does have some great insights. If you’re looking to save, using SEMrush or watching YouTube for practical problem-solving can be a solid alternative.

What exactly do you need help with? Advanced SEO is often about problem-solving and working with dev teams. Practicing on large sites, finding issues, and using tools like Analytics and Search Console is a good way to learn.

Try learningSEO.io. It’s got a lot of resources.

Don’t complicate it. Good tags, sitemaps, and real backlinks are most of the work.

I think technical SEO is about really dialing in those core vitals. You could start with a test site and aim for a 90+ on mobile page speed by optimizing the server, clearing unused CSS, etc. It’s the hands-on stuff that teaches you.

I’ve heard great things about Kristina Azarenko’s course on technical SEO.

Didn’t realize there were full courses for SEO, thought it was more trial and error!

Big companies with in-house SEO teams often blog about challenges and solutions. Some of the best insights come from them, especially when dealing with large sites and high traffic.

Brian Dean’s course on SEMrush might be worth a look.
