I just came across some info about the Yandex leak revealing almost 2,000 ranking factors. It sounds like some of these factors could apply to Google too. Has anyone looked into this? Could it change how we approach SEO in the future?
Yeah, I heard about that! Pretty wild that backlink age is one of the ranking factors, right? I wonder if Google weighs that as much as Yandex does.

Right? I’ve been focusing on getting new backlinks, but now I’m thinking maybe the older ones matter more.
@Wesley
Exactly! Older links carry more weight according to Yandex. I bet it’s something to consider for Google SEO too, even if we don’t know for sure.
It’s interesting that PPC can actually hurt rankings in Yandex if too much traffic is from paid ads. Do you think Google would do the same?

That’s something to think about for sure. I always assumed Google separated organic and paid traffic completely.
@Wesley
Same here! But now I’m wondering if there’s some hidden impact on rankings we don’t know about.
I think one of the biggest takeaways is how Yandex prefers older content. That’s not something you hear about much with Google.

Yeah, updating old content might be more valuable than just pushing out new stuff. Maybe it’s time to go back and refresh older posts?
@Wesley
Definitely worth a try. Plus, Yandex even factors in how close important pages are to the homepage. That’s wild!
I bet Google and Yandex are more similar than we think. If their engineers are sharing info at conferences, there’s bound to be some overlap.

For sure! It’s kind of eye-opening how much info gets exchanged between companies. Makes me wonder what else we’re missing.
@Wesley
Exactly. It’s like a peek behind the curtain, but only for a moment. We can probably learn a lot from this leak.
I saw something about avoiding too much on-page advertising if you want to rank well. It’s good to know Yandex penalizes that. Wonder if it’s the same for Google?

I’ve always suspected that ads hurt the user experience, so it makes sense that search engines would penalize sites with too many.
@Wesley
Yeah, I think it’s worth cutting back on them, just to be safe. User experience is key after all!
