Hi everyone,
I’m interested in building an SEO bot and wanted to get some advice on the feasibility and best practices. Specifically, I’m looking to create a bot that can collect random data from various websites, such as keywords, meta descriptions, and other SEO-related information.
I’m aware of the importance of adhering to legal and ethical guidelines, so I’m seeking guidance on how to ensure that my bot operates within those boundaries. Are there any particular considerations I should be aware of when creating and deploying such a bot? Also, what technologies or tools would you recommend for this purpose?
Hi pals,
although it is technically possible to create an SEO bot, ethical and legal considerations must come first. It is essential to respect data privacy and the rights of website owners. Investigate other, morally and legally compliant ways if you require data for SEO.
I don’t believe it can be done. Sure, it is possible to create a bot or crawler to scrape the web. However, it is important to note that this method will not provide you with any traffic data. I need to personally check the pages that the crawler finds to determine their keyword ranking and position. Then, I can calculate the traffic based on search volume (SV) and click-through rate (CTR). This will be even less accurate than ahrefs. Could you clarify the concept of collecting random data?

They don’t get traffic data by just crawling pages. It’s all about crunching numbers from scraped or bought SERP data.
For instance, if a page ranks first for a keyword with 10k searches, it’s estimated to get around 3k traffic from that keyword. They do similar calculations for every page.
Plus, keyword data is usually bought from clickstream data providers, like Datosgo.
Guy I don’t think it’s possible. Sure, you can make a bot or crawler to scrape the web, but that won’t give you traffic data. You’d have to check each page the crawler finds to see what keyword it’s ranking for and its position, then estimate traffic using search volume and CTR. But that would be even less accurate than Ahrefs. What do you mean by collecting random data?
