Can I make several landing pages for one product on my site without hurting SEO?

I’m trying to reach different audiences with different keywords by making a few unique landing pages for the same product, but I’m worried about duplicate content or keyword cannibalization. Has anyone tried this and managed to avoid SEO issues? Any advice on structuring the content to keep things safe?

It’s common to use multiple landing pages for the same service, especially for A/B testing or targeting different groups. Just make sure the main elements like titles and headlines are varied enough, and you should be fine.

@Nathaniel
Would you keep these pages linked on the main site or leave them unlinked? I’ve had some sites drop in performance after removing or no-indexing orphan pages.

Yes, taking down pages can hurt rankings. Sometimes it’s better to leave orphan pages up rather than remove them.

@Nathaniel
I had a client who noticed a drop in traffic after deleting a lot of orphaned content. It’s on me for not giving a heads-up about the potential impact.

Make sure to use unique keywords and varied text. That’s usually enough to avoid issues with duplicate content.

You won’t get penalized for duplicate content. That’s not really a thing.

What about orphan pages? Like, if you create multiple product pages but only link to one from the main site and leave the rest visible only in search results?

@Austin
Orphan pages might not get enough authority for good indexing. Duplicate content in search console just means Google found similar content and chose the main one to index.

What if you change the content enough that only a human could spot the similarities? Would that help them get indexed separately?

@Austin
Absolutely. A small variation in content can make a difference.

Yes, you can add multiple landing pages for the same product. Use a canonical tag to avoid any duplicate content issues. Or try different languages if you’re targeting global audiences.

Yes, but make sure each page is unique for different keywords or audience needs. Small overlaps are fine, just avoid pages competing directly with each other.

Think of a business targeting various sectors with the same service. For example:

  • site/cleaning-services/hotels

  • site/cleaning-services/restaurants

  • site/cleaning-services/schools

Create a main offer page and then add specific pages for each target group.

Funny enough, I don’t have URLs with more than two slashes. I’ll have to work on that!

Good start! If you let me know your niche, I could suggest a few direct ideas.

Yes, you can set up multiple landing pages and target various keywords by structuring the data right.

Creating multiple landing pages for one product is fine, as long as you plan each page to focus on different keywords and intents. Use canonical tags if needed. This method is good for catering to audience segments with unique needs. Look into topic clustering and semantic keywords for the main page.

@Cecil
But what if these extra pages aren’t linked on the main site? Say you have a main product page but then five more pages only showing up in search results?

For this approach, make each page visually unique with different text, images, and layouts for a smooth user experience. Go for a few focused keywords based on solid research.
