How much money is good for someone who does SEO work?

I just got offered my first job as an SEO specialist. It’s a job where I can work from home in the US and get all the usual benefits.

I’ve been running my own business for a few years, making websites for small to medium-sized businesses and handling their SEO and digital marketing. This would be my first time working in a company that does this kind of work.

They’re offering me $50,000 a year. I looked it up online and it seems like that’s the average salary for this job. But I’m wondering if I should ask for more, considering how things are changing with inflation and more people working from home. I just want to make sure I’m not getting paid less than I should be.

@Arthur. Before you decide whether to ask for more learn that in SEO jobs, how much you earn depends on how much experience you have and where you work:

  • Entry-Level: $35,000 to $50,000 a year.
  • Mid-Level: $50,000 to $80,000 a year.
  • Senior: $80,000 to $120,000 or more a year.

Now you can choose your own rates and often make good money.
So if they offered to give you $50,000 you are good to accept as you build up your experience.

The pay is within the expected range, unless you add unique attributes to your work, of which you can use to renegotiate your salary.

but he has indicated he has experience… $50000, is below par.

what are you talking about? he has to follow the company"s promotions system, he cant just come with demands??? :imp: and how do you even know if he is good or not? he might be really shitty at his job …

Congrats on scoring your first SEO rodeo gig! Working from home in your PJs, wielding the power of Google juice – sounds like a sweet deal.

Here’s the thing: $50,000 is right around the ballpark for this type of role, especially for your first foray into the corporate world. But with inflation on the rise and comfy home office life becoming the norm, there’s no harm in trying to negotiate a smidge higher. Hey, who knows, maybe they’ll throw in a lifetime supply of fuzzy slippers to sweeten the deal!
