I asked a friend to give me a price on doing SEO for a site built on Zoho Sites. They said they wouldn’t charge me, but I want to pay them. What would be a fair amount?
Edit: I’ll just post this in the Zoho forum instead. Thanks.

Have your friend build a WordPress site. Avoid using template sites like Zoho if you’re serious about ranking. Most real SEO agencies wouldn’t work with a Zoho site.
WordPress and WooCommerce all the way. Zoho isn’t great for SEO, plus you don’t really own your content.

Sites like Shopify, Wix, and Zoho are easy to build, but they can shut down your site whenever they want. Also, you didn’t mention what specific SEO work your friend will be doing. Is it just content and keyword optimization? Technical SEO? Social media presence or local SEO (Google My Business)? The task list can get long.

How much to pay depends on what they’re responsible for and how difficult the tasks are.

The guy was advertising on this topic, who really cares about Zoho.
If they’re doing a basic audit and some keyword optimization, you could offer $100-$300 as a thank you. If it’s more like ongoing content creation, it could cost more.

Be sure to track the keywords you’re ranking for. I use SERPtag for that, and it’s really helpful for seeing what needs work. Good luck!
It sounds like they’re new to SEO and learning by working on your site. I had that happen and lost a lot of money.

For reference, I pay $7,000 per month for SEO for one of my businesses, but when I first started, I was paying under $1,000.
For basic SEO, around $100 is fair. For advanced SEO, $500 would be reasonable.

There are too many variables to give a simple answer. Building a website and optimizing it for SEO are two different things.

WordPress is the way to go. I’ve moved many clients from Wix or Drupal to WordPress—it powers over 60% of the internet for a reason.

If you want some advice, feel free to reach out. I just restarted my SEO business after a divorce, but I’m experienced and have a great team.
