My personal website isn’t ranking…need advice

I’m very new to SEO, and I don’t really know where to start. Any tips on how to get my site to rank?

It can be challenging for someone new to rank for terms like ‘programmer,’ ‘developer,’ or ‘programming services.’ Here’s a tip: create articles that help people solve common issues in Node.js, Java, PHP, and other languages you know well.

If you publish hundreds of helpful articles, around 500-700 words each, people are more likely to find you. You can even add banners that advertise your hourly rate or promote your services.

You could also try ranking for terms like ‘how to make a clone of Reddit’ or ‘how to make a clone of Quora.’

Right now, your site lacks unique or creative content—that’s probably why it’s not ranking.

  1. Improve your homepage. Add keywords related to your services, what you do, and why people should choose you. Include a projects section.

  2. Create separate pages for each service you offer and use specific keywords.

  3. Write blog posts related to your services (aim for 6-8 per month).

  4. Backlinks can help, but if your content is good, you might not need to buy them. For faster results, consider adding 2-3 link insertions per month.

These beginner steps can give you a nice boost!

Nice website! It’s taking a bit of time to load images—are they optimized? Switching to WebP format might speed things up. For ranking, have you checked if your pages are indexed? Google Search Console can help you with that.

New sites generally take time to start ranking. SEO is a long process, and patience is key for everyone at all levels.

First thing, add a robots.txt file and a sitemap.xml to your site.

To be honest, it’s going to be hard to rank a one-page website. There isn’t enough focus or space to target keywords effectively.

Start by publishing your own original content. Relying on short AI-generated content (250-300 words) isn’t ideal for ranking these days. Also, avoid anything that looks spammy—it doesn’t work well anymore.
