SEO help… move from WordPress to Hugo or stay?

I’ve been diving into SEO a bit lately. Not a pro, but learning. I’m a software engineer, and I run a cat blog on WordPress. Recently, I started using content created by artificial intelligence to improve the site and relying on Yoast for guidance—if it shows green, I consider it good. The site is built with blocks, and currently, it takes about 2 seconds to load under normal conditions. For testing, I moved a small section to Hugo. Of course, it doesn’t have all the WordPress plugins, but the speed is impressive. Is it really worth switching to Hugo just for faster loading, or should I stick with WordPress and maybe blend the two?

TLDR: Would switching my cat blog from WordPress to Hugo boost SEO, or am I better off staying put?

Speed definitely helps, especially when there are two sites competing for the same spot on a search page. But since your blog isn’t selling stuff, the impact on conversions might be less noticeable.

If your current setup has a decent lighthouse score, you probably won’t see huge benefits from switching. Maybe focus on getting more inbound links from other pet sites?

Honestly, it might not be worth all the hassle. We run WordPress sites using page builders with over 7,000 pages, and they score perfect on Pagespeed for both mobile and desktop.

Stick with what lets you put out content quickly and is easy to manage in the long run. You’ll always need to update posts, tweak links, and refresh content, so making it easy for yourself is key.
