Should I publish a long list post all at once or update it over time?

I’m in the middle of writing a long list-style blog post with at least 41 items.

It’s taking me quite a while to get through all of them, so I was wondering—would it be better to publish the post with just 10 items now and keep adding more as I finish them?

Would updating it gradually like that help or hurt SEO? Or is it better to wait and publish the full list at once?

Appreciate any advice!

I just saw a SEMrush post with 23 WordPress SEO tips. If they’re publishing everything in one go, I imagine it’s not a bad idea.

Thanks! I’m more curious if publishing with just 10 items now and updating it with 10 more later (and so on) would work out better. I feel like long list posts are generally good for SEO, but I’m unsure if it’s okay to build them up gradually.

If you tweak the title and meta description a little each time, so it doesn’t seem repetitive, I think you should be fine.

Gradually updating posts can definitely help improve their quality, and it’s good for SEO. But if the list gets too long and readers lose interest halfway, it might not be as effective.

You could break it into smaller posts instead—maybe Part 1, Part 2, etc. That way, you get multiple posts out of it, and each can stand alone. Plus, regular posting is always helpful for SEO since it adds new content and URLs to your site.

Appreciate it! That makes sense.
