I need some help with this. We moved to a new domain recently and are trying to get blogs indexed from the new domain. These blogs were already indexed on the old domain. The issue is Google keeps choosing a canonical URL pointing to the old domain, even though we updated the user-defined canonical URLs. Now it shows Duplicate, Google chose a different canonical than user
. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Google is likely still crawling the old URLs, and they have more authority for now. If you set up 301 redirects from every old path to the corresponding new one, this is usually temporary. Once Google crawls the redirects, the new pages should show up in search.

We moved the domain over a month ago, but Google still shows the site as moving. We also de-indexed the blogs from the old domain. The problem is Google is using Ghost’s preview pages as canonical instead of the correct blog URLs.
@Winston
Google needs time to gather click data and understand the changes you made. Did you make sure all old URLs are 301 redirected to the new ones? This step is crucial for the transition.
